exhibit S-6 March 8, 1996 Karen Perch, Ph.D. Perch & Toby 3070 Harrodsburg Rd. Suite 240 Lexington, KY 40503 Re: Padgett Custody Case (synopsis of prior evaluations by Donna Nichols) Critical deficiencies and clinical neglect summarized: I. At no time were the parents seen together. A joint meeting would likely be the most useful forum to evaluate the legitimacy of Mr. Padgett's concerns regarding his spouse's religious beliefs. 2. Parental involvement in such a controversial organization (Scientology) and it's technical nature and beliefs, appropriate research or consultative assistance would be recom- mended. Otherwise, the evaluator might very well need to disqualify him or herself from the case. 3. The father had no prior history of mental illness. The mother did (see attached.) In a course of a custody evaluation it is learned that one or both parents have a history of mental illness, the evaluator must explore details, past diagnosis, severity of the problem, appropriateness of treatment, and whether any ongoing sequela of mental illness are likely to have a detrimental effect with regard to the individual's ability to adequately parent.
